Stauton River Battlefield State Park : Clover, VA. Civil War historic site of the Battle of Stauton River Bridge of June 25, 1864. Visitor center, battlefield exhibits, earthworks, nature walking trail, wildlife observation tower. Location : 18 miles east of South Boston. Take Rt. 92 to Clover. Annual Events : Noland Village Day In Providence ( May)- A county fair day with Brunswick Stew, country music, crafts, antique furniture, antique farm machinery. - Virgilina Summerfest (May)- Held every May in the town of Virgilina on Florence Avenue.
